7 Layer Salad

My hubby loves 7 Layer Salad and it’s a great thing to have in the summer because it’s nice and cool.
This is the first time I’ve written down the recipe (my mom taught me) and I’m not quite sure why she called it 7Layer Salad since there are more than 7 layers and less than 7 ingredients?  Either way it’s really good and my hubby loves it.

INGREDIENTS:
1 head of iceburg lettuce, chopped
1 pkg frozen peas
2-3 chopped green onions
3-4 slices bacon, cooked crisp (or bacon bits)
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese

Dressing:  1 cup of Mayonaise with 2 Tbsp milk to thin. (should be pourable but not too thin)

INSTRUCTIONS:
Layer ingredients in the same order in a 9×13 baking dish.  You should be able to get 2 layers of each ingredient. Pour dressing over top covering  entire area.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.  (This lets the dressing soak down and the peas thaw)

This is a great dish for a summer picnic or family reunion.

***TIPS ON HOW I MAKE IT**** I kinda estimated on the amounts.  It’s one of those things I never use a recipe for so experiment with what you like more of and less of.  You can use bagged salad, just make sure it has iceburg since it stands up better.  I’ve even used the bagged salad with the carrots in it.   And sometimes I make a little more dressing if I think it looks too dry.
