About Me

SAVING with a Working Mom is PR Friendly

Hi, I’m Melissa. I am a 38 year old married working mom. My husband Mark and I have been married for 10 years. We have a daughter, Caitlyn, who’s 12 and a son, Jacob, who is 8. Caitlyn is active in soccer, band, and is in drama club. Jacob plays football and loves to play video games. I have worked for the Legislative Branch of KY for 16 years.

My life revolves around the kids, the hubby,  my job, housework, and now this blog.

When I made the decision to coupon, it was out of necessity.  We were struggling and it was one of the few places I could make a difference in our budget.   I have now been couponing for over a year.   I have a plentiful stockpile but not too much.  I buy things when they are on sale, and save them for when I need them.   It is so nice when my hubby says he’s out of deodorant at 7am one morning before work to walk to the cabinet and pull one out.  Buying things on sale and getting them for cheap or free has opened up more money in our budget for other things.

Coupons are only part of the equation. Learning how to shop, when to shop, and what to shop for is the key to saving money…and LOADS OF IT!  It takes time, and as I always say, I have more time than I have money!

Now that I have that area under control and going well, I’m looking to expand the savings to time, and stress.  As I said, my life revolves around the kids, the hubby, my job, housework, and now this blog.   I am busy but I feel as I research for articles, I’m learning more and more about saving money, time, and stress, and spending more quality time with my family.   I hope to continue helping you save with coupons.  And I hope to add more quality articles about time management, home organization, and fun and frugal ways to relax and spend time as a family.

  2. Thanks for doing all that!! :)
I did want to let you know the K5 learning program is wonderful!! We’re still going thru the lessons here and haven’t finished them all yet but… what our small person here used in school (he’s 5, Kindergarten) as their online program is called jiji… it’s math only and the kids are to do the whole program, INSTRUCTION FREE!! Pictures pop up as lessons and they just kind of ‘wing it’… it can get confusing for us even to explain not being ‘teachers’… the K5 we’ve gone thru so far has voice instructions the kids hear and I’ve been asking him as he goes his 5 year old point of view feedback… “It’s better than jiji ‘cuz it talks”.. it’s more ‘fun’… after the assessment, the lessons are tailored to their level also… I’d recommend it even if it wasn’t given to me as a ‘review’… anything that gets them learning! And this, to us and him, is better then what the school uses!! Glad you stumbled on it from my short write up!!
Let me know how you like it over there!! Glad we ‘connected’ !!!
    :)
